Roma, a tribute to Karl L. (fragment #2)

     Cette chambre nommée "Karl" dont nous apercevons ici le côté salon, véranda, terrasse et cuisine d'angle, a été décorée par Anna Fendi dans un style Vienne des années 20 en hommage au kaiser de la mode et fait partie de la magnifique Villa Laetitia qui fut construite vers 1910. 

     As a tribute to "Signore" Lagerfield, this bedroom named "Karl" was especially renovated, furbished and designed by Anna Fendi with a 1920's Vienna style furniture in her fantastic Villa Laetitia built at the beginning of 20th century.

    Située dans le quartier de Passy, voici une cuisine dont on devine la terrasse arborée dans le reflet de la porte vitrée... Une impression permanente de maison de campagne.

Paris, over the roofs

    Ancien atelier d'artiste avec deux grands balcons donnant d'un côté sur la rue Chanez, de l'autre sur le boulevard Exelmans. Plein ciel, dernier étage. Merveilleux refuge ensoleillé et paisible au coeur du village d'Auteuil. Comme une maison posée sur le toit.

   This appartment used to be an artist studio. It has two large balconies above Chanez street and boulevard Exelmans. Right in the sky... Sunny and quiet. Marvelous refuge in Auteuil village (16th arrondissement). 

Ripalvella, old yellow kitchen

Ripalvella, a kitchen right out of the past

           En pleine campagne italienne, entre Ombrie et Toscane, une vieille maison en pierre surplombe un paysage de carte postale. C'est la maison de Lucia. Je n'ai pas fini de vous la montrer... Ici l'une des deux cuisines prise à divers moments de la journée.

         Right in the middle of the Italian countryside, between Umbry and Tuscany, this old house made with stones is a gem. I have not finished to show you the interior parts of this paradise and its fantastic views over the nature. Here is one of its two kitchens. I've made these pictures at various moments of the day.

St-Barts, panoramic kitchen

     Voici mon bar préféré, celui de la cuisine de cette authentique case créole située sur les hauteurs de Saint-Barth. Pour sa vue et pour le côté pratique d'avoir tout à portée de main pour cuisiner tout en sirotant un verre et contemplant l'horizon bleu.       Here is my favorite bar so far. It's part of a typical St-Barts' little house kitchen. I like it for its views of course and also because it's so nice and comfortable to cook, having a drink and looking at the blue horizon at the same time. All posts showing this villa are here. Saint-Barth, inside is outside (West Indies authentic house)

          J'adore ces cases traditionnelles où le salon, la salle à manger et la cuisine sont à l'extérieur et abrités. C'est de plus en plus rare de trouver des maisons aussi authentiques à louer à Saint-Barth car cette île vivant du tourisme de luxe s'est adaptée aux critères d'une clientele essentiellement américaine chérissant et respectant infiniment cette île (depuis Rockefeller himself dès les années 50)... Mais demandant à ce que toutes les pièces soient climatisées, "full-screened" (les propriétaires et constructeurs ont donc fini par "fermer" les maisons en installant des fenêtres et baies vitrées) et que les piscines soient... chauffées (quand on sait qu'à Saint-Barth il fait 30 degrés toute l'année et que les piscines sont au soleil). Amis américains, je vous aime vraiment mais je suis souvent amusée, parfois même carrément hébétée quand je vois à quel point nous n'avons pas du tout la même conception du luxe... Nous n'avons pas fini d'en discuter et de rire de nos différences. 

           I do love these traditional French West Indies houses where the livingroom, the diningroom and the kitchen are outside and covered. It's so rare today to find such authentic villas to rent at Saint-Barth as this island is a luxury turism destination very well fitted to its hudge american one's custom. Americans have really cherished and respected Saint-Barth since its first famous vacations resident Rockefeller in the 50's. But they ask to have conditioned air in all rooms (then proprietaries have "closed" their house with more or less denaturing bay windows), "full-screened" and heated pool (although Saint-Barth, is 86 °F all year and all pools are located on sunny desks). Dear American friends, I really do appreciate and love you but I'm sometimes surprised to see how much we don't have the same conception of luxury. We have not finished to speak and laugh about our differences. 

Paris, a studio in Le Marais

Paris, studio "Père Lachaise" kitchen

       On est ici dans la cuisine du studio "Père Lachaise". Vous pouvez revoir les autres photos de cet appartement en cliquant ici. Et vous observerez ainsi que ce sympathique tissus à carreaux rouges et le placard en altuglas de même couleur sont très raccord avec les bols fringants du petit dej' apparaissant dans le post précédent. Au-dessus de l'évier, on aperçoit une partie de l'entrée du studio grâce au reflet de la fenêtre. 

        This is the kitchen of the studio "Père Lachaise". If you want to watch the other pictures of this apartment, click here. Then you will see that this typically french squared fabric and the red color of the kitchen cupboard both match with the breakfast bowls appearing in the precedent post. Above the sink, the window reflect shows a part of the studio hallway. 

Milano, black shelves and the painting

   

   J'ai imaginé cette décoration pour une cuisine. Des étagères en bois peint, un sol en béton ciré et une immense oeuvre d'art contemporain accrochée à un mur façonné comme de la pierre brute. Restaurant du Straf. Design par Vincenzo di Cotiis. 

   Designed this way, this room could be part of a kitchen. This is what I've thought when I've seen theses wood painted shelves, this smooth concrete floor and this huge contemporary work art on a wall which looks like a stone in the raw. Paris, small apartment hallway converted as kitchen

        Hello, dans la série "aménagement des petits espaces", voici l'entrée-cuisine d'un petit appartement. Celui-ci donne sur la rue de l'Abbé Grégoire, dans le 6ème arrondissement, à deux pas du Bon Marché. Il est si bien aménagé que j'ai cru qu'il faisait 50 m2 alors qu'il n'en fait que 32. La photo ci-dessus, prise depuis le séjour, dévoile une partie de l'entrée comprenant des toilettes séparées (porte blanche), la cuisine... La porte d'entrée est derrière la cloison à droite. La photo ci-dessous montre le couloir de l'entrée tel qu'on le voit quand on entre dans l'appartement (le séjour est à gauche) avec un vestiaire en fer forgé le long du mur et plus loin un petit vestibule desservant notamment une chambre, un dressing et une salle de bain.  J'ai aimé le parquet de l'entrée-cuisine totalement dépareillé de celui du salon, ils sont si beaux tous les deux qu'ils ne jurent pas. Cet appartement est situé au premier étage de l'hôtel de Sèvres auprès duquel il est possible de le louer. Mais trêve de description, place aux images et bonne visite! 

          Hello, about "small places optimization" subject, here is the "hallway-kitchen" of a tiny apartment. It is located in L'Abbé Gregoire street, in the central 6th arrondissement, very close to the famous and stylish Bon Marché store. This apartment is so well converted that I thought it was 50 square-meter (540 square feet) while it's only 32 (340 sq ft). The above picture, taken from the living room, shows a part of the hallway with the kitchen and a white door leading to the toilets. The entrance door is located on the right, behind the wall. The below picture shows the corridor as seen from the entrance (the living room is on the left) with the wrought iron locker on the wall and, at the end, a small vestibule leading to the bedroom, the dressing and the bathroom. I like the parquet floor of the hallway-kitchen, very different from the one of the living room. Both are so beautiful that they suit together. This apartment is integrated to the hotel de Sèvres where it's possible to rent it. Enough of these descriptions, enjoy the visit!

          La porte blanche au fond du salon, ci-dessus à droite, mène à un petit bureau (toutes ces pièces dans 32 m2 avec une telle sensation d'espace, c'est un peu magique... Je me suis crue chez Marie Poppins).

          The white door which can be seen, in the living room right below, opens onto a study (all these rooms in 32 square-metter with such a large space feeling, it's a little bit magic... I thought maybe I was at Mary Poppins').
