Milano, velvet sensation

This room gives a sensation of velvet cocoon as the ceiling, the walls and the floor are the same colour and the same material, a kind of concrete with a very sweet touch. The grey dark shade is happy and reassuring in this room. It doesn't cut into the space as the height under the ceiling of this old converted palazzo is so big... I like also the colour and the indirect light of the niche behind the bed. It's not only used as bedhead and bedside table as this niche "continue" all over the width of this wall. I've rarely seen such a warm room in one hundred per cent contemporain style. I like every thing here, till the colours of the bedside lamp and the blancket. Among the unique eighteen bedrooms of the Palazzo Segreti in Milano, this one, "numero uno", is my favourite. I have already published a post about it (to see it again, click here). Paris, poo poo pee doo

Yesterday, following the post about the Platine hotel main floor living room, you were many people a few friends showing your curiousity about the bedrooms of this place. Here is one of the three ones I've pictured last week. Design by vincent Bastié.

Paris, fancy trendy fiftie's

On me souffle par dessus mon épaule : "Très Mad Men, ce salon"... À chacun ses références, tant qu'on s'y retrouve.. Design de Vincent Bastié.
When we see this picture, it's not evident to guess where I was when I took it. This is the living room of the Platine hôtel which has recently opened and which has been covered by many magazines. But the press (it's understandable) usually rather shows pictures which are more representative of this place where each room has a giant photo of Marylin Monroe by way of bedhead and a specific decoration as tribute to her world. The icon is present at every storey and even in the elevator where a TV screen shows extracts of her films. Of course I was glad to photograph its polished bedrooms and It will be a pleasure to show some of them in a next post. Well, aaaaall this to tell you that the place which really made me stop, there, was this living room located on the main floor, precisely this angle. As subtle as soft, this room is a kind of breath and I like it. Someone looks over my shoulder and suggests me : "Very Mad Men this living room!"... Every one has his own reference, the important thing is to enjoy the place.. Design by Vincent Bastié.

Paris, smallest details deserve design

Here switches are not considered as only fonctional or secondary. And the other details are treated the same way as, for examples, the pillows and the hooks for towels. It's generous. For the objects themselves as well as for those who are using or watching them. Hotel HI Matic, design by Matali Crasset. (To see the anterior post about HI Matic, click here. And here below, picture of an other room smaller than the one I've shown last time).

Paris, orange with something more

The armchair on the left, yes this one, the white one... I want it! Well, I'd like to find the same one day but it will be difficult. Because, here, every piece of the furniture has been cleverly found, one by one, at flea markets or somewhere else. Idem for the other bedrooms of the hotel Crayon of which this one is part of. They are all unique and have been painted in different colours. Let's notice, in every room, the accumulation of frames with old pictures on the wall, as here. Every of them is also unique and express a part of the refinement which is present from a storey to the other. This is a reason why I take pleasure in preparing some other posts about the place. Design by the french illustrator and interior decorator Julie Gauthron.

These geometrical draws on the floor have been created by the assembling of strictly identical but various positioned fited tiles. It's fun to observ it. When I arrive in this place, I had a crush on this armchair (a Carlo Mollino re-edition) as I found it so elegant. As beautiful for the eyes as for the touch : soft wood, soft leather. This is  the hotel du Ministère entrance from where you can see a part of the bar and its "cloud" lamp. Design by Jean-François Champsaur.

Paris, from a room to the other

I've liked this combination of strippes marking the transition from a room to the other. Pictured at Carnavalet.

Even if the weather was not sunny, I've pictured this place, yesterday afternoon, especialy for the bath tub. I've done it from the bed. Design by Virginie Cauet for the suite "Lovez-vous" of the Seven hotel.

Milano, and "Nhow" ladies and gentlemen...

Many plastic coloured armchairs cover the interior and exterior of the lobby of the hotel Nhow in Milan. They have been imagined by two Italian creators under the label "Design of Love". The author of the picture on the wall is Marco Glaviano.

Paris, secret interior

When I walk in this 6th arrondissement street of Paris, I always look inside this living room through this window. I've "crossed the mirror" a short instant to make this picture from the inside. Villa d'Estrées.

Milano, warm and soft design experience

This shaft which hangs above the little transparent table is a lamp. Very close to the floor, it "distills" an indirect light, warm and incisive at the same time. On the left of the window, the glass door is the one of the shower cabin which is painted in plum-coloured inside and has a view on the bed. Design by Brizzi+Riefenstahl Studio for Palazzo Segreti, an hotel of 18 different rooms. This one is the "numero uno" of which I will publish an other picture.

Paris, from bed to Eiffel tower

L'observatoires ultime..
Ultimate observatory.. Located on the top and under the roof, here is a bedroom balcony. The one of the Eiffel suite at l'hôtel Lutetia. Facing west, this little terrace don't miss any sunset. Perfectly covered, it permit to its guest to remain contemplative even when it's raining... In this suite, Charles de Gaulle spent its wedding night and the sculptor César finished his life. I had already pictured the Lutetia for this blog last spring (see here) mentioning Pierre Assouline's novel about this hotel.

Paris, addictive cocoon with colours

Let's play Robinson Crusoe and its cabin : here it would be the bed, there it would be the bathroom, here the toilets and there a dressing room... Regressive and exhilarating. The HI Matic hotel is an illustration of skilful and joyful small places optimization. I'd like to say this place is so "ludic" OOPS even if I've promised myself not to write this word : 1) because I've already used it in my precedent post 2) Because it's one of the most pronounced adjective on Internet by describing this place. Design by Matali Crasset.

Paris, black gold silver stair

This silvery graphic wallpaper, unexpected and fascinating, made me totaly forget the adjoining elevator existence. I don't know how long I've been staying there, picturing the stair at every level.. Design by Jean-François Champsaur for the hotel du Ministère of which I'll show another rooms as ludic to picture as to see.

Milano, abundant interior

Salon du Yard Suite and dependance.
Milanese interior made of many things and furniture with the United-States as common feature. I like the Vogue picture at this place. Middle-hidden behind the tulips bouquet, models look like if they were shy trying to see without been seen. It gives an unaccustomed image of the fashion magazine which use to be more extrovert and ostentatious. Living room of the Yard Suite and dependance

I like the of the combination of this three elements : the antique tiled floor, the grey-blue velvet and the tables made of mirrors which look like puddles of water reflecting the sky. Located under a large glass roof. (Designed by Philippe Maidenberg for Joyce hotel)

Londres, eagle bath tube

Suite Duke of Monmouth du Hazlitt's.
On the bath tube this nice massive sculpture figuring an eagle is used as the tap. Whenever having a bath, the water is going through the beak. Duke of Monmouth suite at Hazlitt's.

Venise, Gritti palace vintage look

I've heard this room had not been changing for more than 50 years and was the Princesse Margaret 's favourite one. Was it for its typicaly venitian floor and red furniture? For its stony balcony over the Grand Canal? I had already published two other pictures of  this room last may as we can see here and there. Pictured with an iPhone.
